Asham Connemaras has been established to breed purebred Connemaras and also Connemara Sport Horses for the Pleasure and Competition markets.

We purchased our first Connemara ‘Glenormiston Killian’ from Sue & Barton Clarke of Glenormiston Connemaras as a green 4 year old and he has gone on to excel with our son Sam competing at State level in Combined Training and numerous Showjumping and Eventing competitions. Whether it be our Clyde X Performance Horses or our Connemaras, temperament is the one attribute that we consider essential and in ‘Killer’, we have found the ultimate pony. Whilst he is careful with his child rider he will willingly approach any task asked of him and his athletic ability is amazing, jumping up to 1.2 m whilst only standing 14.1 hh!

After experiencing the temperament and ability of Killian we then purchased his full sister ‘Glenormiston Ballymalloe’ who we broke in ourselves and who is now being competed by our 10 year old daughter Ashley. The big powerful mare looks way too much horse for such a little girl but the kindness, and again temperament, displayed by the mare combined with the gameness and ability of the child have made for an amazing team.

We have also purchased ‘Wattle Hills Christmas Eve’ and another two Glenormiston ponies to work up as future competitors. In 2008 we leased the beautiful mare Tylani Olivea from Dave Nettleton and bred her to Glenormiston Slipper. She produced a magnificent filly for us which we registered as ‘Asham Madonna’. Earlier this year the opportunity arose to purchase ‘Glenormiston Bartley’ from Brooke Allen. Bart has excelled in his led show ring career but we decided to compete him under saddle as ultimately we want to breed performance horses. Brooke was also looking for another pony to compete in led classes and purchased Madonna from us. To date ‘Asham Madonna’ has come home with Champion ribbons from both of her first outings and has just passed her Class 1 Adult Registration. ‘Glenormiston Bartley’ placed 2nd in his first dressage competition with a score of 68% and is learning the ropes of the ODE world.

Our aim is to breed sound competition horses with both confirmation and temperament. A horse that is ideal for both kids and adults wanting to be competitive whilst having the kind of attitude that makes them a pleasure to work with.

Glenormiston Bartley will stand the 2010 Season to a limited book of mares at a Service Fee of $660. Further information on Bart can be found on our Stallions and News Pages.

Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss Bart or any of the ponies that we compete.

The Connemara is renowned as the ‘Breed for every Need’, let us introduce you to these wonderful animals!
